Latino Chamber Committee Mixer @ Cuban Kitchen

We had such a great time meeting local San Mateo and Bay Area small businesses with the Latino Chamber Committee of the San Mateo Area Chamber of Commerce. Our committee chair Lizbeth Ficarra secured the local eatery “Cuban Kitchen” on 3799 S. El Camino Real, San Mateo, CA 94403 for us to meet and we were not disappointed! The owners Lina Martinez and her daughter Leila have done an excellent job at creating a menu that is accessible, fast and delicious. Their food is fresh and fast, and very tasty!

As you may be aware, our Latino Chamber Committee was started about two years ago, we had a great launch party but then we had some leadership changes and we have all been working hard to bring these meetings back to life. If you know of any Latino business owner interested in joining our group, please reach out to Lizbeth Ficarra who is our committee chair and has been working on contacting our members who signed up for the launch and recruiting new advisory members.

The mission of the Latino Chamber Committee (LCC) of the San Mateo Area Chamber of Commerce is to promote, support, and advocate for the economic development and well-being of Latino businesses and entrepreneurs in San Mateo County.

In our August meeting, we heard from Maria Barreda, Account Executive at Johnson & Dugan Insurance Services Corporation. Maria spoke about different types of employee benefit strategies and different services that her firm offers to businesses. They can help you create and manage the perfect benefit plans to offer your employees. Maria has been with the firm for many years and can be reached at 1350 Bayshore Highway, Suite 328 Burlingame, CA 94010 Phone: 650-238-3218 if you have any questions about how her company might be able to help you with employee benefit programs.

We had a diverse group and energetic group at our mixer and were able to share some time after the presentation to exchange cards and re-connect with one another. Some of the people in attendance: Sheeba Varghese, Speaker and Coach at CoachSheeba.com, Alex Melendrez, Organizer from Housing Leadership Council, Charlie Gonzalez, CEO from CG Moving Co, Shanni Brown, Events Sales Manager from The Daily Journal, Michael Brownrigg who is running for State Senate 2020, Ricardo Archila, Archila Real Estate, Tong Qin, CPA Partner with CFOs2GO, Saili Gosula, Executive Director of Synergy HomeCare of San Mateo, Juan Arroyave, Financial Advisor at Edward Jones Investments and Sylvia Lopez, Director or Operations at the San Mateo Area Chamber of Commerce.

Our meetings are on the third Tuesday of the month. Our next scheduled meeting will be on Tuesday September 17. I will be leading a discussion on the topic of business certifications available to small businesses. I hope you can join us!

If you have questions about joining our LCC group, please reach out to Lizbeth Ficarra lficarra@farmersagent.com or Sylvia Lopez sylvia@sanmateochamber.org
