Moving Your Treasures! CG Moving's table theme at The Colma Historical Association 14th Annual &

What a great time we had hosting a table at The Colma Historical Association’s fourteen annual “Tea of Many Themes”. The association is a 501(c )3 non-profit membership supported organization. Their volunteer docents run the Colma Museum and organized the event. At the museum, you can enjoy their display of documents, artifacts and historical items that detail Colma history. The fundraiser event had each table with different themes. There were beautifully decorated tables with themes such as Hats, Mardi Gras, St. Patrick's Day, Candy, Strawberry, Watermelon and many other clever and elegant themes.

The town of Colma is famous for their cemeteries. Here is a link to local public television station San Francisco KQED’s great article on the history of Colma, their cemeteries and how the town has about 1.5 Million residents underground and about 1,500 alive. Our warehouse is located on Mission Rd in Colma, just steps from historical Molloy's Tavern.

Our table’s theme was “Moving your treasures” and the centerpiece contained miniature household goods, courtesy of our own Olga Garcia. We even had a scaled model International truck with our logo! We truly believe we are moving more than just stuff when we are helping our residential moving clients. Anyone can move furniture, but we are the smart, safe, professional movers! We have helped many clients move from their homes into nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or simply downsized homes.

As with any life changing decision, emotions can be overwhelming for both the elderly adult and the family. When you look around your home, and you see the things that you have collected during your lifetime, think about the value of the items and the memories they hold. For the elderly client, they sometimes wish to pass on those valuable and memorable items. Be it a quilt that has been in the family for a long time, or a grandfather clock or piano, these items are not just valuable because of their monetary cost, but because of all the memories that are attached to them.

We treat each residential move with the dignity and respect the client deserves. Also keeping in mind that the caretaker may have a difficult time making the decision to move their loved ones to a facility, we work together with both ends of the family to make the transition smooth. Our staff is trained in handling household items for the move, which is important as we want to preserve their condition and deliver the items free of damage. But more importantly, we work and train our staff to display a high level of emotional intelligence when they are dealing with both the elderly adult and the caretaker.

We were delighted to have as our guests Mia Garcia of Rocko’s Produce, Abby and Erika of A52 Signs, Victoria Sanchez de Alba of De Alba Communications, and Saili Gosula of SYNERGY HomeCare of San Mateo.

Thank you the The Colma Historical Association, the Tea Event chairperson Helen Fisicaro and all the volunteers who delivered a successful event and fundraiser!
